“You are not going to get
rid of this car. No way!”
                                           “Yes Dear!”

Nearly ten years later, I finally felt comfortable enough to take my
modified Riviera to car shows and the race track and boy was it a
hit! I am still tweaking the engine and making improvements, but
it has remained popular with car enthusiasts ever since the very
first show. The car has received awards and my efforts have been
            recognized on many occasions.
However, the biggest compliment ever received was unexpected
and wasn’t a traditional trophy or first-place blue ribbon. In 2017,
I traveled to Atlanta, GA for the Caffeine and Octane car show.
This monthly event attracts more than 20,000 spectators and
2,000 cars. From classics to modern exotics, the cars were all
impressive. When we arrived at 6:00 am, I couldn’t believe how
many cars had already lined up waiting to enter. We were unex-
pectedly directed to turn away from the spectators parking area.
I was a little confused and didn’t realize I was being directed to
the “featured cars” parking. Only nine cars were chosen that day
to be featured, and it was a huge honor to be included. I spent the
next few hours answering questions about my car, and of course, I
didn’t mind one bit. This was, by far, the most memorable day for
me and the biggest compliment my car and I have ever received.
My ‘65 certainly garners a lot of attention, a unique look on a
classic muscle car that you don’t often see. It is not quite a show
car, and I don’t want it to be so perfect that I’m afraid to take it
out of the garage. My happiest days are when I get to drive it!
I have received several offers and most, although enticing, were
not enough for me to sell. Vickie, my wife, has told me, “you are
not going to get rid of this car. No way!” There is that old saying
that a “Happy Wife is a Happy Life.” So, I guess I should do what
            she says. “Yes Dear!”
